Course Focus:
The Great Wall of China, the Pyramids of Egypt, the sequencing of
Human Genome, the development of the International Space Station,
and the development of the Palm Jumeirah islands – each of these
examples illustrate human accomplishments in many different fields.
Yet, that have something in common – they are all examples of
extremely successful projects. A Project can be defined as a
non-standard set of inter-related activities necessary to achieve
established goals using a specified amount of time, budget and
resources. In today’s global and multi-functional hospitality
business environment, managing projects is no longer an exception.
Projects in hospitality industry include opening of a new hotel or a
restaurant; introduction of new service offerings; implementation of
new managerial or staff training/change management program; and so
on. This course will discuss the concepts and techniques for
effective project management within the context of hospitality
businesses. The format of the course involves case studies,
readings, class-discussion, and a series of hands-on exercises and
demonstrations. |

(Microsoft Project) that can be directly applied to their

Learn project management techniques such as work
breakdown structure; Gantt chart, critical path analysis,
program evaluation and review technique, cost and time tradeoff
analysis, and resource and risk management.
