Bernadette Dennis is a director of the newly formed
BD Concepts Pty Ltd, in Melbourne, Australia. This company focuses
on providing marketing, sales training and customer services
concepts for the hospitality and tourism industries.
Prior to the establishment of this company in March 2007, Ms Dennis
was Vice President, Asia Pacific for Marriott International, Inc.‘s
Global Sales Organization based at the Marriott Asia Pacific
Regional Office in Hong Kong. She was responsible for managing the
sales and reservations centers for Marriott’s network in the region
with offices located in Beijing, Hong Kong, Melbourne, Seoul,
Shanghai, Singapore and Sydney.
Ms. Dennis first joined Marriott in 1984 as Sales Manager, and then
became Assistant Director of Sales, at the Fort Lauderdale Marina
Marriott. Prior to that, she had been the Director of Sales &
Catering for four years at an independent resort hotel in Fort
Lauderdale, Florida, Director of Catering for her family’s
institutional catering company in Melbourne, Australia, and
Assistant Catering Manager for a catering company in London, UK.
During her tenure with Marriott in the US, Ms. Dennis worked in
Florida and Kentucky before relocating to Michigan in 1987, where
she was the Director of Marketing for The Dearborn Inn, A Marriott
Hotel.
On returning to Australia at the end of 1989, after nearly ten years
in the US, Ms Dennis was the opening Director of Marketing at The
Ritz-Carlton, Sydney and the Marketing Manager at the World Congress
Centre, Melbourne. Rejoining Marriott, she opened the Marriott
Sydney Worldwide Sales Office and Reservations Centre in September
1991 and the Marriott Hong Kong Worldwide Sales Office in January
1995, as well as a network of representative offices in Bangkok,
Taipei, Manila, Kuala Lumpur and Auckland. When Marriott acquired
the Renaissance Hotel Group in 1997, Ms. Dennis relocated to Hong
Kong and opened Sales Offices in Melbourne, Seoul, Singapore,
Shanghai and Beijing.
A native of Melbourne, Australia, Bernadette Dennis started her
working life as a teacher of children with special needs and her
studies include education at the Victorian College of Education,
(now Deakin University) and Hospitality Management at the Florida
International University.
